Overnight on a Kerala Houseboat From Kochi, India

Our two-week tour of India had already taken us through the back alleys of Delhi, the sights of Agra, the palaces of Jaipur and the lakeside ruins of Udaipur. Then we headed to the country’s southern tip for something slower: a night aboard a houseboat on Lake Vembanad near Alleppey.

We toured the boat, ate lunch on deck, took afternoon tea, visited a local market, then had dinner and turned in on the water. After breakfast on board, we disembarked for the Taj Malabar Resort, a tour of Fort Kochi and some Kochi street food. More on our India page.
