An Immersive Journey Through India’s Golden Heart

This journey through North India — thoughtfully curated by the experts at &Beyond — unfolds like a living tapestry, layering history, architecture, wildlife, and royal romance into one seamless experience. You begin in New Delhi, where ancient empires and modern India coexist in mesmerizing contrast, before traveling overland to Agra for unforgettable sunrise and sunset moments at the Taj Mahal, viewed from one of the most privileged vantage points in the world.

From the marble elegance of Agra, the journey pivots dramatically into the wilds of Ranthambhore, where open-air safaris offer some of India’s best chances to encounter Bengal tigers in their natural habitat. Between game drives, you retreat to tented luxury that feels worlds away from civilization, yet entirely refined. The pace then softens as you move into Rajasthan’s royal cities—Jaipur and Udaipur—where palaces, forts, colorful bazaars, and tranquil lakes reveal a more romantic, regal side of India.

Throughout the journey, accommodations are as much a part of the story as the destinations themselves, featuring landmark properties like The Oberoi New Delhi, The Oberoi Amarvilas, The Oberoi Vanyavilas, The Oberoi Rajvilas, and The Oberoi Udaivilas. With private guides, curated experiences, and a rhythm that balances discovery with indulgence, this journey delivers not just highlights—but lasting perspective on one of the world’s most profound destinations.

Trip Itinerary

Day
1
Arrive in Delhi

Arrival at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by your &Beyond Asia host and chauffeured to The Oberoi, New Delhi (approximately a 40-minute drive).

India’s capital is a vibrant, modern metropolis layered with more than two millennia of history. Much of New Delhi was planned by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who designed a grand central administrative district as a symbol of British imperial ambition.

Delhi’s famous ‘seven cities’ span centuries of history, from the 12th-century Quila Rai Pithora to the Mughal-built Shahjahanabad of the 17th century. Among the city’s many highlights are Rashtrapati Bhavan, Old Delhi’s Red Fort, the Jama Masjid, and the lively lanes of Chandni Chowk.

Into the Wild — Without Leaving Luxury Behind: The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore

The Oberoi Vanyavilas Wildlife Resort, Ranthambhore is India’s premier luxury jungle retreat, sitting right on the edge of the famed Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve — one of the country’s most iconic wildlife destinations known especially for its Royal Bengal tigers. What sets it apart isn’t just the location, but how effortlessly it marries wild adventure with palatial comfort thanks to beautifully appointed accommodations, impeccable service, and experiences that make a safari holiday feel truly elevated.

Spread across lush gardens dotted with mango orchards, lily ponds, and flowering trees, the resort’s 25 luxury tents are anything but rustic camping. The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur

villa
Hotel/Resort

A Serene Royal Retreat in the Pink City

The Oberoi Rajvilas feels less like a hotel and more like a private royal estate—one that happens to sit just outside the vibrant energy of Jaipur. Set within 32 acres of landscaped gardens, reflection pools, and ancient temples, the property channels the grandeur of Rajasthan’s princely past while offering a sense of space, stillness, and seclusion that’s increasingly rare in India’s most colorful city.

The architecture is classically Rajasthani, but never overdone: pink sandstone pavilions, domed ceilings, and softly lit pathways create an atmosphere that’s refined rather than theatrical. Accommodations range from elegant rooms to secluded luxury tents inspired by the Maharajas’ traveling camps, each offering privacy, comfort, and a strong connection to the surrounding gardens. Days unfold unhurriedly here—morning visits to Amber Fort and the City Palace balanced by afternoons at the pool, intimate dining experiences, and evenings lit by torchlight and birdsong.

Rajvilas is the perfect counterpoint to Jaipur’s sensory overload. It gives you full access to the Pink City’s history, markets, and monuments—then welcomes you back into a world of hushed luxury and gracious hospitality. In a journey filled with icons, this is the place that restores your equilibrium, proving that true luxury in India isn’t always louder—it’s calmer, deeper, and more enduring.

The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur

villa
Hotel/Resort

A Living Palace on the Lake

The Oberoi Udaivilas is less a place to stay and more a place to arrive. Set on the tranquil banks of Lake Pichola, directly facing Udaipur’s City Palace, this extraordinary property feels as though it has always existed—an extension of the royal landscape rather than a modern addition. Domes, courtyards, and colonnades echo the architecture of Rajasthan’s great palaces, while water channels and reflection pools guide you gently through the estate.

The experience here is defined by a sense of quiet grandeur. Rooms and suites are designed to feel regal yet intimate, many offering private terraces or semi-private pools with views across the lake or palace-lit hills. Days unfold at an unhurried pace: mornings wandering marble corridors and lotus-filled courtyards, afternoons spent drifting between spa rituals and shaded poolside lounges, and evenings capped by candlelit dinners as the city glows across the water.

Udaivilas is the emotional heart of a North India journey—the place where the movement finally slows and the romance settles in. It captures the soul of Udaipur perfectly: elegant without excess, cinematic without artifice, and deeply rooted in place. If there is a hotel in India that feels like a fairytale brought gently into the present, this is it.
