Explora's October Private Sale: 186 Voyages, Unpublished Discounts, Gone October 31
Explora Journeys has extended unpublished discounts to us on 186 voyages, from this month through September 2028: the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Alaska, Asia, the Amazon and more. We can't print the number. We can put it in your quote, if you ask by October 31.

A private sale, mentioned in public, carefully
Explora Journeys has sent us its private sale for October: unpublished discounts on 186 specific voyages, sailing from this month all the way out to September 2028. They aren’t on Explora’s website, and they won’t be on ours either. They live on a list, they get applied when we price your suite, and they vanish on October 31.
If you read our Lindblad post last month, you know the routine. I’ll tell you exactly which ships, regions and months are on the list. I won’t tell you the number. That goes in your quote.
What I can say is that the savings are significant. Not rounding-error significant. The kind worth a ten-minute email to find out.
Why I can’t just print the discount
Unpublished discounts are how a cruise line fills particular suites on particular sailings without announcing a public sale that annoys everyone who already paid full fare. Explora extends them through a select group of agencies (we’re on the list, through our Scott & Thomas affiliation) on the understanding that nobody posts them. The day one turns up in a Facebook group is the day it stops existing.
What doesn’t change is everything you’re actually paying for. Same suite, same ship, same inclusions: the drinks, wifi, gratuities and nearly every restaurant on board, as our guide to Explora Journeys lays out. There’s no “sale suite” with a worse view. It’s the identical voyage on a smaller invoice.
Where the 186 voyages go
The Mediterranean is most of the list, but the long tail is where it gets interesting: two ships’ debut seasons, the Amazon, and Patagonia.
The Mediterranean: 115 voyages. The Greek Isles and the Adriatic out of Athens (a few with an overnight in Istanbul), the Western Med between Barcelona and Civitavecchia for Rome, Iberia, and the Canary Islands and Madeira. These run across almost every month, including winter, when Explora II stays in the Western Med and the Canaries. That’s a quieter Mediterranean that most people forget exists.
The Caribbean: 30 voyages. Mostly Eastern Caribbean on Explora III, alternating weekly between Miami and San Juan from late October 2026 into January 2027, plus Western and Southern Caribbean sailings on Explora I and two on Explora II in December 2027.
South America: 12 voyages. The Amazon River from San Juan in February 2027 and again in February 2028, and Explora I’s Brazil and Patagonia season between Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Ushuaia in January and February 2028.
Northern Europe: 6 voyages. All on Explora IV, which joins the fleet in 2027: the Norwegian Fjords, the British Isles and Iceland, and the North Cape, May and June 2027.
Canada and New England: 6 voyages. Fall color out of Quebec City, this October on Explora III and October 2027 on Explora IV.
Ocean crossings: 6 voyages. Barcelona to Miami in November 2026, Barcelona to Rio in December 2027, and Rio to Lisbon in February 2028. Sea days on a ship where every suite has a terrace are a different proposition from sea days on most ships.
Asia: 6 voyages. Explora III’s first Asia season, December 2027 to February 2028: Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia, Vietnam, and southwest Japan.
Alaska and the West Coast: 5 voyages. Round trips from Vancouver in June 2027 and May and June 2028, plus a spring 2027 West Coast repositioning that ends in Los Angeles or Vancouver. Explora’s first Alaska season launches with a single ship, so suites there were never going to be plentiful.
Explora V, due in December 2027, has 15 voyages on the list, all in the Mediterranean, Iberia and the Canaries between December 2027 and March 2028. If you like being early to a new ship, that’s your window.
When: from next week to 2028
Departures start on October 5 and run to September 2028, with something in nearly every month between. Voyages run from 4 to 29 nights, and seven nights is the most common. Many of the longer ones are back-to-back combinations of shorter sailings that share a departure date, so if you want more time on board, there’s usually a way to string it together.
Three things stand out on the calendar:
- Short notice. There are October departures in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and Canada and New England. If you can pack this month, this is where the flexibility pays.
- The holidays. Christmas on an Iberia sailing from Lisbon on December 21, and New Year’s Eve on board the Eastern Caribbean sailing that leaves Miami on December 27.
- The new ships. Explora IV’s summer in Northern Europe, Explora V’s first season in the Med, and Explora III in Alaska and Asia for the first time.
Which suites qualify
The discounts apply to six suite categories: Ocean Terrace, Grand Terrace, Ocean Penthouse, Deluxe Penthouse, Premier Penthouse and Grand Penthouse. They don’t apply to the Ocean Residences at the top of the ship.
That’s nearly the whole ship. And because every Explora suite has a private terrace, the entry Ocean Terrace Suite is already the one we usually recommend. A discount on it is a discount on the suite most of our clients would have booked anyway.
What it stacks with (and what it doesn’t)
This is the part that makes this sale better than most. The discount combines with:
- Journey Together, Explora’s group program, so a family reunion or a group of friends sailing together can use both
- Invitation to Explora
- Consortia amenities, the extras we add as a Virtuoso agency (usually onboard credit)
- Hosted amenities
- The American Express Cruise Privileges Program
It doesn’t combine with Explora’s other reduced-fare programs. If you hold Explora Club status, which earns 5% off from Silver up (our Explora Club review has the details), we’ll price your sailing both ways and use whichever comes out ahead.
The fine print, minus the lawyer voice
You book in October. The booking window is October 1 to 31, 2026. The sailing can be any time on the list; the reservation has to happen this month.
It’s a specific list. Not every Explora departure is on it, and “my dates are close to those dates” doesn’t count. Tell me where and roughly when you’d like to go, and I’ll tell you quickly whether your voyage is one of the 186.
The discount comes off the current fare. Explora prices dynamically, and popular sailings firm up as they fill. A discount on today’s fare beats the same discount on next month’s.
Suites go. The debut seasons and the holiday sailings won’t have much to spare, and there are far fewer Penthouses than Terrace suites to begin with.
How to get your number
Send us the region, a rough window, how many of you there are, and which suite you have in mind. We’ll come back with the voyages on this list that fit, the discount applied, and an honest read on which of them is worth it. If you’re new to Explora and still deciding whether it’s your kind of line, our Explora Switcher’s Briefing is a good place to start.
Request your Explora quote before October 31, or if you’d rather talk it through first, start here.
