Three Days on a Private Island in Placencia, Belize

We had Francis Ford Coppola’s private island all to ourselves, apart from the three full-time hosts who served as butler, chef and hosts and catered to our every whim. After flying into Belize City, we took a puddle jumper down to Turtle Inn in Placencia, gathered supplies and caught a 30-minute boat ride to Coral Caye.

What followed: mai tais, lunch, time in the water, breakfast on the island, afternoon ceviche, a tour of the cottages and a farewell feast, before we said goodbye in the rain. We’d spent a week at Turtle Inn on an earlier trip, so the Family Coppola Hideaways staff already knew our names.
