Whale Watching by Catamaran in Punta Mita, Mexico
We charter a crewed 55-foot catamaran out of Punta Mita, Mexico, to watch humpback whales, plus a sunset hunt for the elusive green flash.
On an earlier boat trip out to the Marietas Islands, a mother humpback and her calf put on a show for us, and we were hooked. So we chartered a 55-foot crewed catamaran out of Punta Mita and went looking for more, and the humpbacks delivered, whale after whale.
We also had a second goal for the day: spotting the green flash, a natural phenomenon that can appear on the horizon at the moment of sunset. Whale watching from a catamaran on the Pacific with the whole family aboard is about as relaxing as a search party gets.
