North Eleuthera, Bahamas: Sapphire Blue Hole, Preacher’s Cave and Glass Window
A day trip around North Eleuthera, Bahamas, to jump into the Sapphire Blue Hole, explore Preacher’s Cave and stand on the Glass Window Bridge.
From our base on Harbour Island, we booked a day tour of North Eleuthera. At the Sapphire Blue Hole we jumped from roughly 30 feet into clear blue water, and the only way out was an upper-body rope climb. Preacher’s Cave, where shipwrecked settlers from Bermuda held the island’s first religious service, still holds their stone altar.
At the Glass Window Bridge, the dark blue Atlantic sits on one side and the turquoise Bight of Eleuthera on the other. After lunch at Queen Conch and dinner at The Dunmore, our verdict: every stop is worth it, but skip the “private” guide and go by taxi or rental car.
