National Geographic Endurance is the pinnacle of Lindblad Expeditions’ polar fleet — a purpose-built PC6 expedition ship launched in 2020 and designed from the keel up to deliver the deepest, most immersive expedition experience available in Antarctica and the Arctic. Carrying just 126 guests with a robust team of naturalists, marine biologists, ornithologists, undersea specialists, and National Geographic photographers, Endurance operates the expedition cruise program that most serious travelers consider the gold standard for knowledge-driven exploration.
Two onboard helicopters dramatically expand the ship’s operational reach — enabling aerial wildlife surveys, access to landing sites inaccessible by Zodiac, and dramatic scenic overflights of polar landscapes. Combined with a fleet of Zodiacs, kayaks, underwater video equipment, and a hydro lab, Endurance gives travelers more ways to engage with the environment than any other single polar ship. The expedition team alone — often 20+ specialists onboard simultaneously — transforms every day into a field course.
Onboard comfort is contemporary and functional rather than opulent — well-appointed cabins across multiple categories, a restaurant, lounge, library, and spa. The focus is deliberately placed on the program and the destination rather than the ship itself. For travelers who want to come home having genuinely learned something — and who value the National Geographic photography and science partnership as part of the experience — Endurance is unmatched.
