Exodus to the Promised Land

Welcome to Egypt. Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met for a private transfer to your hotel on the Giza Plateau. Unlike the standard city hotels, you will stay in the shadow of the Pyramids themselves. Spend the afternoon acclimating to the desert air and watching the sun set over the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner as we begin our 14-day journey from the roots of the Exodus to the heart of the Promised Land.

Today is dedicated to the monoliths of the Old Kingdom. With your private Egyptologist, explore the Giza Plateau, including the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the enigmatic Sphinx. Stand between the paws of the giant lion and learn about the engineering marvels that have defined this landscape for 4,500 years. After a traditional Egyptian lunch with views of the dunes, we visit the Saqqara Necropolis to see the Step Pyramid of Djoser—the world's oldest standing stone building—providing the perfect context for the architectural journey ahead.

Explore the treasures of the Pharaohs at the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). This state-of-the-art facility houses the world’s most extensive collection of ancient artifacts, including the complete, breathtaking collection of King Tutankhamun. Marvel at the colossal statue of Ramses II and the Grand Staircase. In the afternoon, we visit the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque, offering a panoramic view over the spires of Old Cairo. This is our final night in the capital before we move toward the sea.

After a final breakfast overlooking the pyramids, we depart Cairo for a private drive through the Eastern Desert to Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea. Here, your Emerald luxury yacht awaits. Step aboard the Emerald Azzurra or Sakara and settle into your contemporary suite. This evening, meet your crew and fellow travelers for a welcome cocktail on the Sky Deck. As the yacht sets sail, the narrative of the trip shifts from the land-based history of the Nile to the maritime path toward the Promised Land.

Anchor in Aqaba, Jordan's only coastal city and your gateway to the archaeological wonder of Petra. A guided excursion takes you through the Siq—a towering, narrow gorge—until the iconic Treasury emerges from the pink sandstone. Explore the royal tombs and the Roman-style theater of this Nabataean capital, a city lost to the Western world for centuries. After walking the stones of this UNESCO World Heritage site, return to the yacht to enjoy a cocktail as the desert mountains of Jordan glow in the twilight.

Sharm El-Sheikh sits at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, a place where the desert meets world-class coral reefs. This morning, choose to dive into the turquoise waters of Ras Mohammed National Park for some of the world's best snorkeling, stroll through the historic Old Market and bustling bazaars, or explore ancient mosques and the desert landscapes of the Sinai Peninsula.

From the port of Safaga, journey inland to the Nile Valley and the extraordinary city of Luxor. This is the heart of ancient Egyptian power, where you will visit the Valley of the Kings—the final resting place of Tutankhamun—and the massive Karnak Temple Complex. Walk among the colossal pillars of the Hypostyle Hall and stand before the statues of Ramses II. After a day immersed in the gold and granite of the Pharaohs, return to the Red Sea coast to rejoin the yacht for a late evening departure.

Enjoy another day of nautical adventure as the yacht turns north toward the Mediterranean. Utilize the marina platform for a morning of paddleboarding or swimming in the deep blue of the Red Sea, or join the ship’s chef for a culinary demonstration. As the yacht approaches the entrance to the Suez Canal, the atmosphere on board turns to one of anticipation for tomorrow’s historic transit, marking our symbolic transition from the Red Sea to the Levant.

Today marks a milestone in your journey as the yacht transits the Suez Canal. This 120-mile engineering marvel connects the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, providing a unique vantage point on the Sinai Peninsula. From the Sky Deck, watch the desert dunes and small Egyptian villages slide past as you move through this historic waterway. Passing through the Great Bitter Lake and under the Suez Canal Bridge, the transit is a slow-motion parade of maritime history that concludes as you emerge into the Mediterranean Sea.

Arrival in the port of Ashdod marks your entry into the Promised Land. Today is a journey into the spiritual heart of the world: Jerusalem. Walk through the Old City to the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Via Dolorosa. Stand atop the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the Dome of the Rock and the ancient city walls. The intensity of history here is matched only by the beauty of the stones. Return to the yacht this evening to reflect on a day spent at the center of the world's great faiths.

The yacht moves north to Haifa, where the stunning Bahá’í Gardens cascade down Mount Carmel. Choose an excursion to the Sea of Galilee and the town of Nazareth, visiting the Basilica of the Annunciation. This region of the Promised Land offers a greener, more serene landscape compared to the desert south. Alternatively, explore the Crusader city of Acre, where ancient sea walls and subterranean tunnels tell the story of the medieval knights. Because the yacht remains in port overnight, you have the rare luxury of exploring Haifa after sunset.

On the southeast shores of Cyprus, the port city of Larnaca was built over the ancient ruins of the city of Kition. This is a lovely destination where past and present blend into a delightful mosaic of sun and culture and charming for its diversity, special atmosphere and warm hospitality of the local people.

The expedition concludes in the vibrant Cypriot city of Limassol. After a final breakfast on board, bid farewell to the crew and disembark at the Limassol Marina. A transfer will take you to Larnaca International Airport for your flight home. As you depart the island of Cyprus, you carry with you the perspective of a traveler who has seen the Red Sea, the Suez, and the Promised Land from the most exclusive seat in the house.
