The most-trusted voice in frequent travel brings his 80-country, 7-continent expertise to your next expedition.

Through the Lens of Travel

I am a travel writer and photographer who has traveled to more than 80 countries on seven continents and stayed overnight in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. At the top of my travel list is staying overnight at the South Pole on the continent of Antarctica.

Travel has always been important to me—beginning with childhood trips from Brooklyn throughout the United States, cultivating my fascination with roads, road signs, and the perfect highway playlist—an obsession that still exists today.

The Gate with Brian Cohen showcases my view of the world through the lens of my camera. One of the two original weblogs on BoardingArea, The Gate with Brian Cohen aims to share my passion for travel. From eye-catching destination, dining, and transportation experiences to click-worthy travel deals, curated tips of the trade, and my thoughts on topical news stories, everything is presented with a bit of fun thrown into the mix.

My camera and I explored Europe and Africa during my stint at Parsons School of Design, where I earned a BFA in Communication Design. As National Product Support Manager for a predecessor to Adobe, Creative Director for multiple print publications, and owner of a design consulting firm, I further expanded my travels. I was even afforded the opportunity to visit Romania while later earning my MBA.

I first became a frequent flier when I joined the OnePass program. I quickly caught the fever—an obsession with miles, points, and elite-level status—and became a member of numerous frequent-traveler loyalty programs over the years. I have been a moderator on FlyerTalk since my appointment in 2004 and am a member of both InsideFlyer and FlyerTalk.

The Gate with Brian Cohen shares my passion for photography and travel—even when it includes some wacky itineraries.
