Follow In My Footsteps: Experience My Journey to the 7th Continent

If you have been following The Gate With Brian Cohen, you know that standing on the Seventh Continent has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. For years, Antarctica was the final unchecked box on my travel list—a distant, icy goal that felt almost out of reach. This past December, I finally crossed the Drake Passage and stepped onto the White Continent, and I can honestly say the reality far exceeded even my wildest expectations. From the silence of the glaciers to the chaotic beauty of the penguin colonies, it wasn’t just a trip; it was the travel milestone of a lifetime.

Since returning, the number one question I’ve received is, "How can I do this too?" That is why I am thrilled to partner with my friends at ABC Trips and Scott & Thomas. When it comes to polar expeditions, they are the world’s top travel planning experts. We have collaborated to curate a booking experience that removes the guesswork from navigating this remote region, bringing their deep logistical expertise together with the personal touches of my recent expedition.

Through this exclusive page, we are making my exact itinerary available to you. You can sail on the very same expedition vessel, trace the same route through the Peninsula, and witness the same breathtaking landscapes I captured in my photos. While Mother Nature always dictates the final schedule in Antarctica—and weather-permitting, no two voyages are ever identical—this package is designed to replicate my adventure as closely as possible. I waited years to make this journey, but with this team behind you, you don't have to wait to experience the magic of the bottom of the world.

Today we navigate the Lemaire Channel, often referred to as the 'Kodak Gap' for its staggering beauty. The ship glides through a narrow passage where 1,000-meter cliffs rise vertically from mirror-still water.

Later, visit Pleneau Island and the 'Iceberg Graveyard,' where massive bergs have run aground, creating a labyrinth of sculpted blue ice. The silence here is profound, broken only by the distant boom of a calving glacier—a visceral reminder of the continent's living geology.

Through the Lens of Travel

I am a travel writer and photographer who has traveled to more than 80 countries on seven continents and stayed overnight in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. At the top of my travel list is staying overnight at the South Pole on the continent of Antarctica.

Travel has always been important to me—beginning with childhood trips from Brooklyn throughout the United States, cultivating my fascination with roads, road signs, and the perfect highway playlist—an obsession that still exists today.

The Gate with Brian Cohen showcases my view of the world through the lens of my camera. One of the two original weblogs on BoardingArea, The Gate with Brian Cohen aims to share my passion for travel. From eye-catching destination, dining, and transportation experiences to click-worthy travel deals, curated tips of the trade, and my thoughts on topical news stories, everything is presented with a bit of fun thrown into the mix.

My camera and I explored Europe and Africa during my stint at Parsons School of Design, where I earned a BFA in Communication Design. As National Product Support Manager for a predecessor to Adobe, Creative Director for multiple print publications, and owner of a design consulting firm, I further expanded my travels. I was even afforded the opportunity to visit Romania while later earning my MBA.

I first became a frequent flier when I joined the OnePass program. I quickly caught the fever—an obsession with miles, points, and elite-level status—and became a member of numerous frequent-traveler loyalty programs over the years. I have been a moderator on FlyerTalk since my appointment in 2004 and am a member of both InsideFlyer and FlyerTalk.

The Gate with Brian Cohen shares my passion for photography and travel—even when it includes some wacky itineraries.
